I'm Going to Jackson?

I accepted my job at Fox 40 News last August.
Pretty sure, I hung up the phone, and cried.
It finally felt real.
I would move across the country, to a place where I knew but one person,
and chase this crazy dream of mine.
That night, I went with some of my friends to see the best movie of the year.

Fitting really, as it happens to take place in my new home.
I fell in love with Skeeter right away.

But wondered what I had just signed up for.
Within three weeks, I had packed up the room I grew up in, filled a U-Haul to the brim,
and made the two-day trek with Douglas and Mendi.

It was all so sudden and so many unknowns made me feel uneasy.
But, things quickly fell into place and have worked out so perfectly.
I found the best roommates through Craigslist.
Creepy, right?
With a backyard that looks like this.

The South is full of green, luscious trees.
It's such beautiful country.
So much more pretty than I was expecting.
I moved in during a tropical storm, and I think we got more rain in one hour
than Arizona gets in an entire year.
Only four days after getting to Mississippi, these two flew back home to Mesa.
They helped me move in, get all of the essentials, and made sure I knew my route to work.
And then they were off.
I fought back the tears as I dropped them off - not knowing when I would see them next.

Then, I drove back to my new house, in a new state, by myself.
So unsure of what was in store.
Yet, ready for the adventure that was ahead.
And somehow, I never looked back.

  1. So proud of you ky! You really are such a grown up. Also, how do you have blonde hair? I always figured your mom was blonde
