The day Scott Maddux first saw me in my wedding dress.
For photography purposes, we decided to do a bridal/groomal session
three days before we got married.
And, I'm so glad we did.

The day started early.
I bounced from salon to salon while my parents and Scott were busy running errands.
We drove separately to the Temple
and had our girl, Annie, snap some photos of the first encounter.
We mostly just laughed and couldn't believe this was actually happening.
Shiz was getting real, people.

This post would not be complete without a few thank yous.
My dear friend, Katelin, tagged along for this event last minute.
And I'm so happy she did.
She was a lifesaver.
She'd been through this process before and was so eager to help.
From fixing my hair to reapplying lip gloss, this girl did it all.
She even put up with my annoying self and would take out my veil only to put it back in three poses later.
Kate, I don't know what I would have done without you!

While my mom helped me get in my dress, my dad was busy helping Scott get ready.
I still laugh at this moment.
I had told Scott to pick out a tie while he was in the city.
I loved the navy suit he bought and just figured he'd find a great tie.
So, just to make sure he had all his bases covered,
he bought about ten ties and brought them to Arizona.
I was such a brat and didn't like any of them.
He ended up wearing one of my dad's ties that was completely what I had in mind.
Douglas saved the day once again.

And sweet Mendi Sue was the best thing any bride could hope for.
She catered to our every need.
She patiently helped me get into my dress and buttoned more than 50 buttons.
She held my flowers, veil, etc.
She was there every step of the way.
What a champ.
I was so happy she got to experience this with us.
Afterward, she treated us all to Costa Vida.
There was nothing this bride wanted more that day than some sweet pork.
Get in my belly.

And of course, Scotty.
Thank you for putting up with me.
You always make me laugh, especially, in situations like these.
I know you secretly love having your picture taken.
And it's a good thing - cause we still had thousands more to smile for later that week.
Get ready for picture overload -- cause I know you haven't seen enough yet.

Bachelorette Party

Tuesday, October 23, 2012
T minus four days until marriage.
Family and friends had started getting into town.
The hustle and bustle of all things wedding was unlike anything I've ever experienced.
Douglas (my dad) and I spent the entire day sorting through my stuff, deciding what to ship to New York, and what to leave behind.
I felt like my life was stuffed into boxes filled with vacuum sealed storage bags.
(Which I highly recommend - as my closet is now filled with them).
It was quite the task.
But fun to do with my dad -- because he's a party.
Needless to say, after the sun went down I was ready for a night with my girls.

Katelin planned a bachelorette party with a few of  my dear friends who were in town.
We all met at BJ's for some yummy food.
McKenzie, Chelsey, Kenz, Kate, Makall, & Natalie
You girls are the greatest.
I know you were all crazy busy with work and school in the middle of the week,
so I can't thank you enough for coming, and of course,
filling me in on everything I needed to know!
We went back to Kate's darling apartment and had delicious desserts and opened gifts.
Everyone spoiled me with all the necessities.

That night was just another testament to me of the
incredible friends I have had throughout my life.
You girls are unbelievable.
This picture makes me laugh every time.
Total cheese ball.
But, you're allowed to on your wedding week right?!
I'd like to think so.

That night, I left my friends and headed straight to Sky Harbor Airport to get my groom.
After more than a year of being apart,
this was the last time I'd pick him up before we were married.
He was a sight for sore eyes.
And little did he know, he was in for the craziest week of his life.
