Cougs Come To The City

When we heard BYU made it to the Final Four of the NIT Tournament and
would play at Madison Square Garden, it was a no brainer.
We had to see our alma mater play in the world's most famous arena.
Scott took a break from work, we grabbed a bite to eat, and were on our way.
We played Baylor and it was close for most of the game.
But we lost in the end and the cougs, once again, broke Scott Maddux's heart.
I don't get fully invested because they have a way of doing that to you.
And despite thoroughly enjoying and getting the most out of my college experience,
I still have a hard time saying I bleed blue.
Nevertheless, I did sing "Rise and Shout the Cougars are out" the remainder of the night because it was stuck in my head.

The cougs came crawling out for this game.
We saw so many friends from school and church.
Even Cecil himself made the trip to the big apple.
Oh, and some of the missionaries too.
We joked that the game had better attendance than Stake Conference.
Speaking of friends --
meet Amanda Egan.
One of my dear and first friends here in the city.
I'll never forget her kindness on my first Sunday at church.
I had the first Sunday jitters going to a new ward with my new husband.
But she introduced herself, sat by me in Relief Society, and invited me to activities.
I knew I'd love her right when I found out she was born and raised in Mississippi.
She is good people.
I adore her little Emma Perry and we just love their family.
The world needs more Amanda Egans.

In a way, I felt like my past and present worlds were colliding.
It seems like just yesterday we were a part of Jimmermania during our senior year.
I can't believe it's been two years since we've graduated college.
BYU will forever hold a special place in our hearts --
it is where I stalked Scott Maddux after all.
