Flower District

These two beautiful friends of mine invited me to a lovely morning in the flower district. New York never smelt so good. This bustling flower market is located on 28th St. in between 6th & 7th Avenues and literally pops out of nowhere. The streets are lined with fresh flowers and plants. We felt like we were in the jungle all morning. I saw flowers I'd never even heard of before. Some shop owners told us that a lot of stores and restaurants in the city will pick up these wholesale flowers early in the morning to display or sell that day. Kels bought 20 long stem white roses for $12. What a steal!

It was such a beautiful day that Kenzi and I decided to walk home. She had never been to the High Line, so we made our way to the heart of Chelsea to walk it. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded so we were able to really enjoy it.

We came across a kindergarten class from Brooklyn who was on a field trip. They had just studied a famous artist in class, so they came to the High Line to see some of his art work and then to draw their own versions of it. I mean -- reason #9842 I love this city. They were too cute. I was dying. I creepily took a picture and asked one of the parents what they were doing. He told me to ask the kids what the artist's name was. They all told me who they were studying and I was like...what lucky, cultured city kids! It made me think of the best kindergarten teacher in the world - my mom. And then I missed her even more.

By the time we got home I was hot and sweaty. And I remembered I missed that feeling all winter. Summer, you truly are my favorite.
