Summer Streets 2013

Yes, I am five months behind on this little blog. Yes, these summer photos bring tears to my eyes. Yes, I'm desperately going to try and catch up.

Does anyone else have an internal battle with blogging? I love going back and looking at the memories we make - but the time it takes to document! My gosh, I'd rather be making more memories. But, January has got me trying to do better in a lot of areas. Or maybe it's the weather that's keeping me indoors. Either way, here we go!

For three Saturdays in August the city shuts down seven miles of Park Avenue from City Hall all the way to 72nd Street. People are free to run, bike, roller blade, etc. without worrying about taxi cabs taking off their right arm. Scott and I first shredded Summer Streets two years ago when he first moved to New York. Since then, it's been one of my favorite summer activities and we were really looking forward to it.

Citi Bikes made their debut this summer. We used them a handful of times even got the year long passes. But they are gathering dust this winter season. We need to get back out there.

We were able to go twice that month - the first weekend we rode bikes and the second time we ran it. I really love seeing this city on two feet or two wheels. You get a real sense of all the neighborhoods and how they fit together. We started on Centre Street downtown and made our way through Chinatown and Soho all the way through Midtown and the Upper East Side. The week we ran it, we ended our run with brunch at Norma's - because every weekend workout warrants their food.
