Washington, D.C.

The next morning, we woke up in the nation's capital. We figured we were so close - why not spend the day there? I hadn't been to D.C. since I was 14 and Scott's last trip was three years ago. We all went to church at a beautiful building in Arlington and then made our way through Georgetown for brunch at Farmers Fishers Bakers by the Washington Harbor.

It was Laura's birthday so she picked the place and we all fell in love. Their brunch was a buffet style but waiters would also bring plates of french toast, cinnamon rolls, etc. to our table so we could pick what else we wanted. Scott soon became the incessant customer asking for more cinnamon rolls. And I'm so glad he did! I loved the whole set up. The food was out of this world. So fresh and delicious. I loved that I could get chips and guacamole, french toast, and cupcakes all in one meal. We did not hold back one bit. I still dream of this food.

After brunch, the Myres and Pulsiphers went back to Virginia while we decided to see some of the monuments. It was an extremely hot and humid day and we didn't last too long. I hadn't felt that kind of humidity since Jackson. It was so thick and we didn't stop sweating. We ventured to the Jefferson Memorial and saw the Washington Monument from afar. We quickly learned our lesson though and saw the rest of the monuments while driving inside our air conditioned car. This trip it was made clear that we can always be travel buddies with the Murdochs. They're so easygoing. We all wanted to see things, but didn't have a list of places we were dying to check off this trip. And, of course, we share the same love of food, which was evidenced in this post. We love them.

We left the suburban long enough to say hello to the first family and snap a few pictures in front of the White House. Next, we stopped by one of our London favorites, Nando's, to grab food for the road and then picked up our friends Quentin and Lexie to make the journey home to New York. This was such a fun weekend getaway with dear friends. D.C., we will be back soon!
