One Year Anniversary - 10/27/13

One year ago, we walked out of the Mesa Temple hand in hand as husband an wife!

And we were like, "Holy cow, what did we just do?" Hahahaha! Scott Maddux and I will be the first to admit that we have no idea what we're doing half the time with this whole marriage thing. But what I do know with 100% certainty is that marriage is the biggest and most important decision in a person's life. Quite frankly, that huge decision freaked me out for years. Thus, our three year courtship. It took time and also experiences I knew I had to have for myself in order to make that decision. So, you can imagine the joy and peace we felt that day when we finally sealed the deal. I'm 100% certain that I made the best decision of my life by marrying Mr. Maddux on that beautiful October day surrounded by our dearest friends and family. He is the best man for me. He calms me down, keeps me in check, laughs at my obnoxious jokes, believes in my dreams, and goes along with my crazy shenanigans.

Fast forward one year, and we found ourselves in our second New York City studio. In one year, we both took new jobs. We ran our first half-marathon together. We traveled to California and Arizona a few times to visit family. We explored Bermuda. We visited the Hamptons, Washington DC, and Charlottesville with fun new friends. We tried to make the most of this incredible city we call home. We made tough decisions as to our future. We endured long, sleepless nights while Scott pulled late hours. We spent countless nights cuddling on the couch watching our favorite shows. We saw each other through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Since our one year anniversary fell on a Sunday and we both had church and work responsibilities, we decided to celebrate the following weekend. Scott brought home beautiful flowers that did wonders for our kitchen.

He made dinner reservations at The House in Gramercy. The restaurant used to be an old carriage house in the 1850's and has since been restored. The atmosphere was really neat.  It was such a fancy night out with the most delicious food and my favorite guy. We reminisced on the last year of our lives and talked about our hopes for the future. Not just on our one year anniversary, but every day, I am reminded how blessed I am to have my best friend by my side through all of life's struggles and adventures. It's been the best year yet and I can only imagine what the future has in store. I thank the heavens I hitched my wagon to yours one year ago, Scotty. Looks like you're stuck with me, kid. I'll love you forever and like you for always.
