UofA vs. Duke at MSG & South Street Seaport Christmas Tree

On Black Friday, Duke was taking on the University of Arizona at Madison Square Garden in the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship game. I grew up watching UofA basketball with my dad and at one point even stalked Head Coach Lute Olsen at a high school basketball game to get a picture with him. It's currently framed in my dad's office. One of his proudest moments yet. So when we heard they were playing Jabari Parker and the rest of the Blue Devils, we grabbed the Komendas and headed to the Garden. Scott was pulling for Duke and I was rooting for the Wildcats. Loser bought dessert. It was a fun game to watch that stayed pretty close until the end. The Cats pulled it out with a 72-66 victory. And I was like "So sorry, Jabari! Let's go to Red Mango!"

Afterwards, we headed down to South Street Seaport. They had their big Christmas tree lighting hours before and I was dying to check it out, as it was the first one I'd seen all season. It was hard to contain my excitement. Their winter set up was straight out of a snow globe, oozing with charm. I mean, a gorgeous tree standing on a cobblestone street next to the cutest ice rink you ever did see. It was the perfect scene to get us in the holiday spirit. I was beaming. A UofA win and our first tree sighting? Talk about a fabulous birthday weekend.
