Easter 2014

These are some pictures taken around our studio in the calmer moments after the actual holiday. Scott was on a deal and working around the clock. I didn't get to see much of him which is always a bummer but especially, on holidays. Anna came to visit us and got in late Friday night. Luckily, the weather was beautiful and cooperated all Easter weekend.

I'd heard about the famous blueberry pancakes at Clinton Street Bakery but the long lines always kept us away. Anna and I CitiBiked there and rode around SoHo and the Lower East Side until our table was ready. We indulged and each got an order of the famous pancakes - they definitely lived up to the hype. Their biscuits were out of this world as well!
Our church congregation holds a "Come and See" Sunday on the Easter holiday. We're always encouraged to invite visitors to attend our church services but we put an extra emphasis on this particular meeting where our speakers' messages are directed to nonmembers and visitors who might be hearing about the gospel for the first time. The meeting lasts for an hour and a half and then we all share an Easter dinner together. Scott had to work all Easter morning and I went early to drop off some food and set up for the dinner. We were asked to speak on the Atonement during Sacrament meeting and I was worried Scott wasn't going to make it at all. He literally walked in after the meeting had started and minutes before I was set to speak. Phew! That would have been a lot of time for me to fill, so I was beyond thrilled to see him! Anna came to hear us and sat with our dear friends the Wilsons in the congregation. I based a lot of my talk on this message from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. Thankfully, things went smoothly and then we enjoyed a nice meal with our ward family. I'm eternally grateful for the knowledge of Jesus Christ's life, Atonement, ministry, and resurrection. I know that because of Him I can be forgiven of my shortcomings each day and strive to be a better disciple of Christ. He is the source of my happiness and everything good in this beautiful world.
Sadly, Scott had to rush back to work immediately after church so Anna and I went on a walk in Central Park before she hopped on the bus back to D.C. It was a great see her and catch up.

The Wilsons were kind enough to host me for an Easter dessert. Check Chef Jeremy in that apron! These good friends took me in so many times while Scott was working late on weekends. I'll be forever grateful for their kindness in including me especially on holidays when family is so far away. So glad I've got these people for life.
